Sustainably Grown Apples & Grapes

Welcome to the farm!

Wheeler’s Orchard & Vineyard sits atop Fredonia Mountain on the Cumberland Plateau, home to the world’s longest expanse of hardwood forest.

Just one hour's drive from downtown Chattanooga, our farm sits on 50 acres of gently rolling mountain terrain. We welcome visitors in the fall to enjoy tree-ripened apples, vine-ripened grapes and freshly squeezed, unpasteurized cider pressed weekly during the season.  Visitors are welcome to stroll about the orchard and vineyard, enjoy the cool mountain air, and take in a panoramic view of beautiful fall colors in the surrounding mountain ridges that overlook the original orchard. Or they can pack a picnic lunch, spread a blanket on the hillside overlooking the lower orchard, and enjoy a lazy day in the country.

Apples

Our 20 apple varieties range from the familiar, like Granny Smith & Golden Delicious, to the rarely heard of, like the Blushing Golden or the Shizuka. Come see us July-November to sample the amazing differences & nuances of flavors – sweet, tangy, zesty, sharp… Our apples are always tree-ripened, sprayed minimally, never waxed, gassed or otherwise molested.

Grapes

Folks look for a winery when they see we have a vineyard.  We don’t have one.  Yet!  But we have an amazing variety of seedless, seeded, table, wine & processing grapes.  It’s a short season, from mid– July through early September.  If you are looking to juice your own, make pies, preserves, wine, or just looking for some yummy treats to add to fresh salads, then we have the grapes for you.  Try our native and hybrid varieties you can’t find at the store!

We welcome visitors to come soak in the mountain views and fresh air, take a guided tour to pick fall fruits, feed the hungry goats and sheep (sometimes even Rowdy the horse), and even stay for a picnic!
